Invoices from other restaurant linen suppliers can be frustrating. They may not even tell you how many linens you’re using.

At Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply, we harness technologies, like our VacuTrack™, CustomerPortal, and SilverSaver™ systems, to provide you with knowledge and insight via an online Customer Portal. This proprietary interface enables you to view and adjust your orders to control the total cost. West Milford, New Jersey, offers Dining in “the Heart of the Highlands”

West Milford is a large township in Passaic County. At its southeast end, the county is densely populated by residents who live in bedroom communities – like Paterson and Clifton – that have grown up along the edge of the greater New York City metro area. Lying at the county’s northwest end is the 80 square mile tract of New Jersey Highlands that constitutes West Milford. The contrast between the regions is dramatic.

West Milford is old, sparsely populated, rural, and scenic, with 5 square miles of lake coverage. Greenwood Lake, originally called Long Pond and the largest body of water in the region, is nine miles long and spans 1,900 acres along the New York-New Jersey border. Only half of it lies within the township. The City of Newark owns another 35,000 acres of the township as part of its Pequannock River watershed. Moreover, as the entire township is included in the New Jersey Legislature’s Highlands Water Protection and Planning Act, West Milford is subject to additional rules and restrictions designed to preserve the water quality.

With its rolling hills and forested lands, West Milford is well known for outdoor athletics and activities. In the early 1900s, when it was a famous resort destination, trains from New York City would stop at several stations in the township. At the height of the resort era, several tourist steamboats meandered around Greenwood Lake. Part of their function was practical, meeting trains at stations and transporting passengers to destinations in both states. The other purpose, of course, was to show off the stunning lakefront scenery.

West Milford boasts another scenic location: the Apshawa Preserve. This site is nestled in the wilds around the Apshawa Brook, a tributary of the Pequannock River and the 40-acre Butler Reservoir. Fishing and bird watching are popular, as is hiking through mature stands of oak and maple. Striking rock cliffs add to the stark, natural beauty. On some sections of the trail, the New York City skyline can even be seen through the trees. Although an abundance of wildlife is a beautiful thing, one of the longer trails is subject to closure because beavers occasionally flood the area.

Community events are alive and well in the township. For decades, locals and tourists alike have brought family and friends to the West Milford Autumn Lights Festival Annual Celebration, a massive street fair that features hundreds of vendors, entertainment, live music, games, and rides. Located just 38 miles outside New York City, West Milford residents have easy access to everything the Big Apple has to offer, including a world-class restaurant scene. When folks want to grab a quick bite nearby, they can pick from delicious Asian, Thai, American, Italian, and Mediterranean options, plus – of course – typical chain and franchise restaurants. For generations, The Vreeland Store has been a landmark in the community. Built in 1861 as a general store and meeting place, and now considered a historic landmark, the store has expanded over the years to function as a café, a bar, and an inn. At Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply, we provide inns, hotels, restaurants, and diners in and around West Milford Township with professional restaurant uniform rentals, restaurant linens, laundry services, and facility supplies.
