On the Shores of the Chesapeake Bay, the City of Baltimore is Progressive and Proactive, with a Promising Future

The largest city in Maryland, also known as Charm City or what President John Quincy Adams called Monument City, due to its dramatic skyline comprised of monuments and churches, Baltimore was ranked fourth in “New Tech Hot Spots” by Forbes magazine in 2013. The growth of technology jobs is helping move Baltimore away from its current, primarily service economy. As the business sector continues to expand with the times, opportunities abound for forward-thinking entrepreneurs and business leaders. Supporting this progress are a wide variety of suppliers, like Dempsey, who contribute valuable experience and expertise. We are pleased to provide uniform services to regional businesses including Jaws Marine, Command Technology, Inc., and American Access Care.

In addition to an energetic business community, Baltimore boasts an art and music scene second to none. In fact, in 2009, Rolling Stone Magazine named Baltimore as the “Best Music Scene” due, in part, to the proliferation of live music venues and concerts. Art enthusiasts from around the globe converge on the city to experience the more than 30,000 paintings, sculptures, artifacts, and objects d’art on display at The Walters Art Museum. Tour guides make sure to direct visitors to The Baltimore Museum of Art, The American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM), and The National Aquarium, a public, non-profit institute dedicated to inspiring conservation of the world’s aquatic treasures.

According to records kept by the National Register of Historic Places, Baltimore is dotted with 65,000 historic properties, forty-three of which are listed in the National Park Service’s “Baltimore: A National Register Travel Itinerary”. By following this itinerary, locals and visitors alike can experience the city’s rich history, one that goes back to the founding of our nation. Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, home of the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, was the location from which a defense against the British was launched in the War of 1812. The Star Spangled Banner, written by Francis Scott Key and originally titled “Defence of Fort McHenry”, was inspired by the bravery of the resistance. The birthplace of America’s first railroad, the B&O (Baltimore and Ohio), Baltimore is also home to the Mount Clare Station, the very first railroad depot and current site of the B&O Railroad Museum. In the early 20th century, satirist and prolific writer Henry Louis Mencken had a profound influence on our society and culture. In tribute to his many diverse contributions, his home at 1524 Hollins Street – the H.L. Mencken House – has been preserved, and now serves as center for musical and cultural events.
