Invoices from other restaurant linen suppliers can be frustrating. They may not even tell you how many linens you’re using.

At Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply, we harness technologies, like our VacuTrack™, CustomerPortal, and SilverSaver™ systems, to provide you with knowledge and insight via an online Customer Portal. This proprietary interface enables you to view and adjust your orders to control the total cost. We only bill you based on usage, plus, when employees leave flatware in your soil bags, we collect and return it to you at no additional cost.

In Arlington County, Virginia, Prosperity Fuels a Lively Restaurant Scene

The new Colony of Virginia got its historic start when English monarchs began granting land to nobles in exchange for political favors and promises. One such noble was Thomas Fairfax, 6th Lord Fairfax of Cameron, the recipient of a land grant that eventually became Fairfax County. He is also the namesake of the city of Fairfax, Virginia. The name Arlington is similarly derived from another British noble, Henry Bennet, 1st Earl of Arlington, the operator of a plantation along the Potomac River. Years later, George Washington Parke Custis, the adopted son of President George Washington, acquired Bennet’s home – known as Arlington House – and the surrounding property. When his daughter Mary Anna married Robert E. Lee, the land fell under the ownership of the Confederate General.

Although the Union seized the property containing Arlington House and its grounds during the Civil War, later legal proceedings compensated the family heirs for its value. Today, that land is home to the famous Arlington National Cemetery, and Arlington House still stands on those hallowed grounds. Administered by the National Park Service, the house serves as a memorial to Robert E. Lee who, unbeknownst to many, was as enthusiastic and vocal proponent of reunification after the Civil War.

Like many other population centers surrounding Washington, D.C., Arlington has thrived in the shadow of the national capital. A multitude of government agencies, corporate offices, and non-governmental organizations are located in Arlington, each offering lucrative career opportunities and employing a highly educated, professional workforce.

Not surprisingly, restaurants catering to this well-heeled populace have flourished. One ethnic eatery with a modern twist features food, wine, drinks, and specialties native to the Balkan Peninsula of Southeast Europe. Traditional items combine with modern foods in clever, offbeat ways, and are often made with fresh ingredients purchased from nearby organic farms. A local Peruvian restaurant specializes in charbroiled chicken, and delights patrons with sauces that range from mild to what they call “green hot.” It also carries Inca Kola, the national soft drink of Peru, a bright yellow liquid with a fruity flavor akin to cream soda. At Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply, we take pride in supporting the local restaurant scene in Arlington County. We provide restaurants, diners, clubs, bars, hotels, and other hospitality establishments – including the Sugar Factory, Chasin’ Tails Seafood Restaurant, and the Kora Restaurant, Bar and Lounge – with restaurant uniform rentals, restaurant linen rentals, and facility supplies.

In the Arlington area, there’s a heartwarming sense of community spirit, a great example of which is the massive Taste of Arlington street festival. This event showcases the most popular dishes from the area’s more than 40 restaurants, offers a beer and wine garden, and hosts a bountiful farmer’s market. The Kidzone, an event that takes place within the festival, is designed to appeal to kids from toddler to teen and features face painting, rock climbing, games, and contests. Attendees can also partake in a series of inflatable games presented by the Washington Wizards and Capitals sports teams. All of the proceeds from the Taste of Arlington support the Virginia Hospital Center and the Arlington Community Foundation.
